Women's Volleyball Overpowered by Case Western Reserve

Spartans Win in Straight Sets, 25-15, 25-16, 25-18

Box Score Hiram, OH,  --  October 12, 2022  --  The Hiram College Women's Volleyball team suffered a straight set loss to Case Western Reserve tonight in non-conference action in Price Gym, 25-15, 25-16, 25-18,

The Terriers trailed in the first set by one point at 4-5, when the Spartans went on a 13-6 run to open an 18-10 lead on the way to a 25-15 win.

The second set opened at 3-3 before Case moved out to a 17-9 advantage.  The Terriers went on a 5-1 run to come within 18-14, but the Spartans scored seven of the last nine points of the set in the 25-16 victory.

The Terriers led in set three, 7-6, and the score was knotted at 9, 10 and 12,  After falling behind, 17-14, Hiram came within a point at 17-18, forcing Case WR to call a timeout.  After the timeout,  the Spartans rallied to win the next five points and seven of the final eight to win, 25-18.

The star for Case WR was Amanda Ngo, with a match-high eight kills and three blocks for a match-high 11 points.   Ngo hit an astounding .533 with an 8-for-15 hitting performance.  The Spartans' attack produced 43 kill shots to 27 for the Terriers. 

Hiram was led by sophomore middle Emily Richardson with seven kill shots and two block assists.  Her eight points were matched by freshman outside hitter Brooke Norris who hammered home six kills and had two blocks for eight points. Case hit at a .321 clip while Hiram only managed a .076 percentage.

Freshman setter Brooke Fishback assisted on a match-best 12 assists.  

Hiram will take a 10-9 overall record into Saturday's 1PM home match with Wooster in the first of four consecutive NCAC competitions..
