TIFFIN, Ohio – January 29, 2022 – Hiram women's wrestling took part in the Dragon Duals hosted by Tiffin University on Saturday afternoon facing off against four different schools.
 
MATCH 1: TIFFIN 43, HIRAM 0
In the first match of the day, Michal Buska took down Bethany Smith by tech fall, winning 10-0. Aliya Martin won by the same result over Katie Vogt-Shields.

Morgan Davidson won by fall over JoRee Ybarra at 0:15.
 
MATCH 2: ADRIAN 38, HIRAM 0
The second match of the day saw double forfeits in the 101 lbs. and 109 lbs. weight class. At 136 lbs, Zoe Nowicki won over Smith by tech fall, 10-0. Nyla Burgess, wrestling at 155 lbs., defeated Vogt-Shields by tech fall, 10-0

Concluding the dual at 191 lbs., Yamilex Perez bested Ybarra by fall at 2:20.
 
MATCH 3: GANNON 47, HIRAM 1
After multiple forfeits from Hiram, the match vs. Gannon started at 136 lbs. Lana Perez defeated Smith by tech fall, 10-0. In the 155 lbs. class, Gabrielle Malinowski won by fall over Vogt-Shields at 2:43.

The third match of the dual saw Amara Devericks defeated Joree Ybarra by decision at 11-5 in the 191 lbs. class.
 
MATCH 4: SCHREINER 33, HIRAM 0
In the final match of the day, there were three double forfeits in the 101 lbs., 143 lbs. and 170 lb. classes.

Lexys Basruto defeated Smith by tech fall at 10-0 in the 136 lbs. weight class. Jordan Johnston then beat Vogt-Shields by the same result with a tech fall. 10-0. Concluding the dual vs. Schreiner, Symphanie Sampson won over Ybarra by fall at 1:07.

The Terriers now have two more events left in the regular season with the conclusion of the dual meet. Hiram and Adrian will square off again on Tuesday, Feb. 8 at Adrian for a dual match with a start time to be announced.
