WOOSTER, Ohio - January 22, 2022 – The Hiram College swimming & diving team opened the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) portion of their schedule on Saturday, taking on the Fighting Scots and Battling Bishops in a tri-meet at Timken Natatorium.
Both the men and women fell to Wooster and Ohio Wesleyan, with the men dropping their dual against the Fighting Scots, 239-37, and 166-71 to the Battling Bishops, while the women fell to Wooster, 211-49, and 152-91 to OWU.
Carlee Lisser kicked things off for Hiram with a third-place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle, coming in at 12:20.95, while
Moraine Jackson set a new personal best, dropping almost 30 seconds off her previous time, swimming a 13:08.11.
Adam Ellis then set his own personal best in the same event, clocking in at 12:55.15, shaving almost 37 seconds off his previous high.
Landon Hughes then picked up another third-place finish for the Terriers in the 200-yard freestyle, swimming a 1:53.48.
Up next in the 100-yard backstroke,
Lilly MacDonald set another personal best, dropping her time by two seconds with her 1:15.71 final.
In the 200-yard butterfly,
Elena Rinaldi came in fourth, with a time of 2:39.58, while Lisser added two more Top 3 finishes to her tally with a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle, clocking in at 27.87, and a third-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:00.32.
MacDonald came in just behind Lisser in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:01.98, while
Natalie Brown earned a Top 5 finish in the 500-yard freestyle, coming in at 6:18.39.
Three Terriers, Hughes, Jackson and Rinaldi, then wrapped up their days with Top 4 finishes in the 400-yard individual medley, with Rinaldi finishing third with a time of 5:39.06, and Jackson and Hughes finishing fourth with times of 4:47.00 and 5:58.31, respectively.
Last up in the 200-yard freestyle relay, Hiram's relay teams placed fourth on the women's side, and sixth on the men's side, wrapping up the Terriers' day at the Wooster Tri-Meet.
Hiram next wraps up the regular season on Friday, Jan. 28 when they visit Oberlin College for a dual meet against the Yeomen and Yeowomen beginning at 6 p.m.
