Hiram Women’s Soccer Falls to W&J on Senior Night

HIRAM, Ohio - September 18, 2021Hiram Terriers women's soccer fell to the Washington & Jefferson College Presidents, 1-0, on Saturday on Senior Night at Charles A. Henry Field.

After the Terriers honored their two seniors, Tatiana Garcia and Kaitlyn Harris, prior to kickoff, both sides combined for 13 shots in the first half, but neither was able to find the back of the net.

Both the Presidents and Terriers made their keepers work, with seven combined shots on goal, but the two sides headed into the locker room scoreless.

W&J picked up the pace in the second half, outshooting the Terriers, 9-4, but Skyler Huda kept the Presidents off the scoreboard for much of the second half, recording four of her eight total saves in the second period.

However, with just under 14 minutes to play, Maddie Dittrich's right-footed shot made its way past the outstretched arms of Huda, giving the Presidents a 1-0 lead.

And though the Terriers did push the pace in the final few minutes, they couldn't find an equalizer, as the Presidents picked up the 1-0 victory.

With the loss, Hiram drops to 2-5 on the year, while W&J moves to 3-4.

Emily Turk led the Terriers with four shots off the bench, while Tayleigh Price recorded two. In goal for the Terriers, Huda recorded eight saves.

The Terriers will look to bounce back when they host Heidelberg on Wednesday, Sept. 22 at 7:30 p.m. at Charles A. Henry Field.
