BEREA, Ohio - December 4, 2021 – Hiram College swimming and diving earned a pair of victories in their tri-meet against Baldwin Wallace and Bethany (W. Va.) on Saturday at the BW Natatorium. Both the men and women defeated the Bison, 122-36 and 127-22, respectively, and fell to the Yellow Jackets, 166-45 and 153-46.
After opening the tri-meet with the 400-yard medley relay,
Natalie Brown picked up her first-career victory with a first-place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle, swimming a 12:43.90.
Carrie Robinson also placed in the same event, swimming a 15:34.81, good for third.
On the men's side in the 1,000-yard freestyle,
Adam Ellis swam a personal best, shaving 22 seconds off his previous best time with a 13:28.25.
Next up in the 200-yard freestyle,
Carlee Lisser and
Dayne Sauter both earned second-place finishes, coming in with times of 2:17.03 and 1:56.85, respectively.
A few events later,
Landon Hughes earned a second-place finish with his time of 2:10.59 in the 200-yard individual medley, and later added a first-place finish to his tally with a 5:19.38 time in the 500-yard freestyle.
In the 100-yard freestyle,
Vincent AhSam-Kreiter picked up a second-place finish with his time of 53.22, while
Elena Rinaldi earned a third-place finish for the women with her time of 1:04.45.
Lisser added another podium finish, coming in third in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:12.49, while
Moraine Jackson swam a 6:30.36 500-yard freestyle to finish third.
Lilly MacDonald and
Natalie Brown came in third and fourth, respectively, in the 100-yard breaststroke with times of 1:20.86 and 1:24.91, before Hiram wrapped up the day with the 200-yard freestyle relay, with the women finishing third and the men second.
Hiram opens the new year in Washington, Pa. on Saturday, Jan. 15 with a tri-meet against Washington & Jefferson and Franciscan beginning at 1 p.m.
