Hiram Swimming & Diving Sweeps Dual Meet at Bethany

BETHANY, W. Va, - November 13, 2021 With a dominating performance, Hiram men's and women's swimming and diving swept their dual meet against the Bethany College Bison on Saturday at the John J. Knight Natatorium. The women defeated Bethany by the final score of 170-29, while the men earned a 143-46 victory over the Bison.
 
The Terriers dominated the Bison, winning 24 of the 28 events against Bethany. Both 200-yard medley relay teams got Hiram started with wins, before Landon Hughes and Carrie Robinson picked up the Terriers' first of many individual wins on the day in the 1,650-yard freestyle with times of 19:53.07 and 25:51.58, a new personal best for Robinson.
 
Dayne Sauter and Elena Rinaldi then earned individual wins in the 200-yard freestyle, coming in at 1:56.09 and 2:28.75, respectively, before Moraine Jackson won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:13.83.
 
Lilly MacDonald took home first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:19.69, before Devin Gear and Rinaldi finished off wins in the 200-yard butterfly, swimming times of 2:41.13 and 2:41.35.
 
Up next in the 50-yard freestyle, Hughes and Jackson each picked up another win, clocking in at 24.48, a personal best for Hughes, and 29.04, while Jackson added her third in the 100-yard freestyle with her 1:04.60 time.
 
Carlee Lisser earned her first win of the day in the 200-yard backstroke with a 2:34.90, a new personal record, while Sauter and MacDonald earned their second wins of the day in the 200-yard breaststroke, swimming a 2:35.77 and a 2:58.06, respectively, with Sauter's time of 2:35.77 good for a new personal high.
 
Also in the 200-yard backstroke, Adrianna Klepper and Madelyn Sagle set new personal bests with times of 2:45.73 and 3:13.90, respectively. Sagle also set another personal best in the 100-yard butterfly, coming in at 1:28.85.
 
In the 500-yard freestyle, Gear took home first place with a time of 6:06.02, with Natalie Brown winning on the women's side, clocking in at 6:24.57.
 
Hughes (1:00.66) and Lisser (1:15.22) and Sauter (2:27.67) and Rinaldi (2:40.65) then wrapped up their performances with wins in the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard individual medley and a new personal best for Lisser, while Adam Ellis also set a new personal best, clocking in at 1:04.29 in the 100-yard butterfly.
 
Hiram's 200-yard freestyle relay finished off the day with another pair of victories, clocking in at 1:41.05 on the men's side, and 2:08.86 on the women's.
 
Hiram next travels to Delaware, Ohio for the Corbiere-Merion Invitational, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University, beginning Saturday, Nov. 20 at 10:00 a.m.
