Hiram Women’s Soccer Falls in Home Conference Contest vs. DePauw

HIRAM, Ohio - October 9, 2021 Hiram Terriers women's soccer fell to the DePauw University Tigers, 3-0, on Saturday at Charles A. Henry Field.

After a pair of early shots by both sides, Kate Cowger got the Tigers on the scoreboard first with her 13th-minute goal, ricocheting off the post into the back of the net to give DePauw a 1-0 lead.

With four first-half saves, Anika Zepeda kept the Tigers off the scoreboard the rest of the first half, and the Terriers headed into the locker room down just 1-0.

However, after some back-and-forth play to start the second half, Sydney Calisto extended DePauw's lead off an assist by Annalise Grammel, giving the Tigers a 2-0 lead with just under 34 minutes to play.

And in the 76th minute, the Tigers added another goal, extending their lead to 3-0 on Maya Caltry's shot off a corner kick, assisted by Hadley Freeman.

And though the Terriers' offense started to get going down the stretch, they weren't able to find the back of the net against Emma St. John and the Tigers took home a 3-0 victory.

With the loss, Hiram drops to 2-10 (0-2 NCAC), while DePauw moves to 2-5-1 (1-1 NCAC) on the year.

Kaitlyn Harris led the Terriers with a pair of shots, including one on goal, while Zepeda made nine saves in goal.

Hiram next travels to Wooster, Ohio for a matchup against The College of Wooster Fighting Scots on Tuesday, Oct. 12 at 4 p.m.
