HIRAM, Ohio - October 26, 2021 – Hiram College women's soccer fell to the Denison University Big Red, 3-0, on a rainy Tuesday night at Charles A. Henry Field at Malmisur Stadium.
After a hard-fought, defensive first half, the two sides headed into the locker room locked in a scoreless draw. While the Big Red outshot Hiram in the first half, 9-3,
Skyler Huda kept Denison off the scoreboard with four saves.
But just over eight minutes into the second half, Abby King broke the scoreless tie off an assist from Amy Chiero in the 54th minute to give Denison a 1-0 lead.
Just a few minutes later, King again found the back of the net, this time of a save Huda couldn't fully corral, extending Denison's lead to 2-0 with just under 35 minutes to play.
And then the 75th minute, Callie Davis made it 3-0, scoring on a breakaway to extend Denison's lead.
Huda kept the Big Red off the scoreboard the rest of the way, but Patil Tcholakian and Denison's defense held Hiram to just three second-half shots to seal the victory and remain undefeated in conference play.
With the loss, Hiram falls to 2-14 (0-6 NCAC) on the year, while Denison moves to 11-2 (7-0 NCAC).
Six Terriers recorded a shot, with
Kaitlyn Harris,
Shelby Jackson and
Emily Kazimore putting theirs on goal. In goal for the Terriers, Huda tied her a career-high with 13 saves.
It's a quick turnaround for the Terriers as they host Allegheny College on Thursday, Oct. 28 at 7:30 p.m. at Charles A. Henry Field at Malmisur Stadium, making up their game originally scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 20.
