HIRAM, Ohio - February 9, 2020 – The Hiram Terriers Cheer & STUNT team split their home games on Sunday at Price Gymnasium, falling to the Alma College Scots, 20-0, before topping the Tiffin University Dragons, 9-0.
"Today's games were all about focusing on us and performing the best routines we could as a team," Head Coach Samantha Campbell said. "Overall we had fewer count errors and mental mistakes, which is what we focused on during practice last week."
In their opening match against the Scots, Alma quickly pulled ahead, taking an 8-0 lead into the halftime break before finishing off a 20-0 victory.
The Terriers bounced back in the second game and led 2-0 after a quarter of play, and 3-0 heading to halftime. Hiram notched two points in the third quarter to increase their lead to 5-0 before picking up four points in the fourth quarter to solidify the 9-0 victory.
"We had some individual athletes who had great moments as well," Campbell said. "Chloe Welch stuck her round off back handspring tuck for the first time during competition. We also had to make some changes due to a team member's absence, and those who stepped into their new roles did very well. Chloe Runner was placed into partner stunt 2 at yesterday's practice, and she proved today that she earned it."
The Terriers next travel to Alma, Mich. for the Alma STUNT Games on Sunday, Feb. 16 where they'll face Ferris State and Maryville University.
