Box Score MEADVILLE, Pa. - February 19, 2020 – The Hiram Terriers men's basketball team fell to the Allegheny College Gators, 86-82, on Wednesday at the David V. Wise Center.
An early 9-2 run, highlighted by four points from Antonio McQueen, gave the Terriers their first lead of the game, 11-6, with 14:18 play in the first half. The Gators quickly tied things up and took a lead of their own, before eight-straight points from Brodgie Gordon, including back-to-back threes, gave Hiram a 23-17 lead with 9:27 remaining in the first half.
In a first half that featured eight ties and six lead changes, the Gators answered with six-straight to knot the score at 23-23, before Hiram responded with six-straight of their own to take a 29-23 lead.
Allegheny though, would respond with one last run, outscoring the Terriers 17-10 down the stretch of the first half to take a 40-39 lead into the locker room.
Gordon led the Terriers with 14 first-half points, while Tyler McMillion added 10 points and four rebounds.
Allegheny extended their lead to three with a bucket to open the second half, before the Terriers went on a 19-4 run over the next four minutes to take a 58-46 lead with 15:56 to play.
The Terriers led by as many as 16 in the second half, stretching their lead to 77-61 on Gordon's jumper with 9:48 to play.
But Hiram went cold from the field the rest of the way, and the Gators made their way back, taking a three-point lead on a pair of free throws with 49 seconds remaining.
Gordon hit a late triple to pull Hiram within two, 84-82, but the Gators made their free throws to pull out the 86-82 victory.
Gordon led the Terriers with 26 points, adding a career-high nine assists and five rebounds. Dean III added 16 points while McMillion tallied 15 points and seven rebounds.
The Terriers will wrap up the 2019-20 regular season on Saturday, Feb. 22 when they travel to Springfield, Ohio to take on the 5th-ranked Wittenberg Tigers at 3:00 p.m. at Pam Evans Smith Arena.
