Box Score

HIRAM, Ohio - November 19, 2019 - The Hiram College women's basketball team delivered a balanced scoring effort, as they earned their largest non-conference victory over an opponent since 2004 in a 90-45 matchup against Thiel, Tuesday night.

The final 45-point margin was Hiram's widest margin of victory against a non-conference Division III foe since beating Lake Erie College 80-23 on Dec. 16, 2004.

The Terriers stood strong throughout the 90 minutes of work, never trailing. Hiram shot over fifty percent from the field, tallying a season-high 24 assists, outrebounding the Tomcats 42-31, and holding a 42-16 advantage in points in the paint.

Twelve Terriers registered a basket in the matchup against Thiel with three scoring in double figures. Junior Tashauna Wright led Hiram with 21 points, seven rebounds, and three assists. Freshman Alyssa Maraia and sophomore Gabriella Dukarm each added 12 points from the reserves.

Junior Madison Branch contributed a team-high 11 assists and nine points.

Hiram held the momentum early holding the Tomcats to five points in the first quarter. A layup from Wright stretched the Hiram advantage to double digits 5:44 into the frame (12-2).

The Terriers closed out the first on a 16-3 run to secure the 28-5 advantage.

From there, Hiram would keep Thiel at bay outscoring the visitors 25-13. Maraia shined in the quarter tallying nine of her 12 points of the night shooting 3-3 from the field and proving perfect from beyond the arc.

Inside the final minute of the third quarter, Hiram scored their largest lead of the night (75-25) off a layup from Amanda Holzman. The Terriers would allow only nine points from the Tomcats in the third frame.

Despite the last-minute 18-15 scoring surge from Thiel in the fourth quarter, Hiram cemented their 90-45 victory.

Hiram will head to Wilmington on Friday, Nov. 22 for their game against Albion at the Fred Raizk Memorial Tournament. The matchup with the Britons is set for an 8:00 pm start.
