GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- The Hiram College women's basketball team fell at DePauw (Ind.) 75-47 on Saturday.
The Terriers are now 11-11 on the season and 5-8 conference play, while the Tigers improve to 16-6, 10-3.
Sophomore Mercedes Jones (Dayton, Ohio/Ponitz Career Technology Center) paced Hiram with 14 points and seven rebounds.
Sophomore Kaylee Shockley (Uniontown, Ohio/Lake) added 10 points and senior Rachel Ellis (Newton Falls, Ohio/Newton Falls) converted all six of her free throws to finish with six points.
Maya Howard led DePauw with a game-high 24 points off the bench.
The Tigers opened up a 14-5 lead after one period of play and blew the game open in the second quarter, outscoring Hiram 23-4 edge to take a 37-9 lead into the intermission.
Hiram would play an even second half with the Tigers, but was unable to overcome the deficit.
The Terriers finished 14-of-47 (29.8 percent) from the field, while the Tigers were 26-of-67 (38.8 percent). Hiram converted 15-of-20 (75.0 percent) of free throws, while DePauw made good on 18-of-28 (64.3 percent).
The Tigers outrebounded Hiram 51-25 and also held a 56-18 edge in bench scoring.
Hiram will play next on Wednesday, as they host Wooster at 6 p.m.
