OBERLIN, Ohio -- The Hiram College women's basketball team suffered a 55-35 setback at Oberlin on Saturday afternoon.
The Yeowomen now stand at 7-7 on the season and 1-4 in conference play, while the Terriers drop to 9-6, 3-3.
Sophomore Mercedes Jones (Dayton, Ohio/Ponitz Career Technology Center) led Hiram with 11 points, while sophomore Allison Vannoy (Mantua, Ohio/Crestwood) finished with 10.
Senior Brianne Goodrich (Chesterland, Ohio/West Geauga) finished with six points off the bench and freshman Erica Johnson (Salem, Ohio/West Branch) pulled down a team-high seven rebounds and recorded a career-high four steals.
The game was a tale of two halves for the Terriers.
Hiram raced out to an 11-6 lead after one period of play and built a 21-14 lead heading into halftime.
But the second half belonged to Oberlin, as the Yeowomen outscored the Terriers 41-14 en route to the 20-point victory.
Hiram struggled in shooting, going 16-of-64 (25.0 percent) from the field and just 2-of-16 (12.5 percent) in 3-pointers. Oberlin was 19-of-46 (41.3 percent) in shooting and went 2-of-12 (16.7 percent) from beyond the arc.
The Yeowomen held a 51-27 edge in rebounding and 13-2 advantage in second chance points.
The Terriers will play next on Wednesday, as they travel to Ohio Wesleyan for a 6 p.m. contest.
