GREENCASTLE, IND -- The Hiram College women's basketball team saw its season come to a close at the hands of No. 8-ranked DePauw (Ind.) by a 75-38 score in the NCAC Tournament Quarterfinals on Tuesday evening.
The Terriers, seeded eighth, finish the 2014-15 campaign at 7-19 overall, while the top seeded Tigers improve to 24-1. DePauw also advances to the NCAC Tournament Semifinals and will take on fifth seeded Ohio Wesleyan on Friday.
Sophomore Brianne Goodrich (Chesterland/West Geauga) led the Terriers with 10 points and four rebounds.
Freshman Kaylee Shockley (Uniontown/Lake) added seven points and five rebounds, while sophomore Kayla Yost (Norwalk/Perkins) added five points and five rebounds.
Savannah Trees led the Tigers with 21 points.
A early layup by Yost knotted the score at 6-6, before DePauw went on a 15-2 run to open up a 21-8 advantage with 8:12 left in the first half.
The Terriers would respond with the next four points to get within single digits at 21-12.
A 3-pointer from Yost would trim the Tigers lead to 25-20, but DePauw would respond with a trey of its own and took a 28-20 edge into the break.
The Tigers would open the second half on a 16-4 run to expand their lead to 44-24, putting the game away.
Hiram finished the game 14-of-50 (28.0 percent) from the field, while DePauw shot 28-of-68 (41.2 percent).
The Tigers owned a 47-30 edge on the glass and also outscored the Terriers 34-22 in the paint.
