DELAWARE, Ohio -- The Hiram College volleyball team defeated Randolph-Macon (Va.) 3-2, but fell to No. 25-ranked Ohio Wesleyan 3-1 on Saturday.
The Terriers (18-7, 4-3 NCAC) fell to the Battling Bishops (24-2, 7-1 NCAC) 25-17, 16-25, 26-24, 25-19.
Senior Lindsay Brewer (New Franklin, Ohio/Manchester) led three Terriers in double figure kills with 14. Senior Emily Mortimer (Mogadore, Ohio/Field) added 11 and junior Marissa Jay (Parma, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) finished with 10.
Junior Laura Kelly (Massillon, Ohio/Jackson) had a team-high 22 digs and junior Claire Maier (Hunstville, Ohio/Indian Lake) dished out 42 assists.
Hiram finshed with 48 kills as a team and hit .191 in the match.
The Terriers then topped Randolph-Macon (19-5) in a five set thriller, 25-23, 24-26, 25-20, 21-25, 15-8.
It was Brewer leading the way with a season-best 25 kills. She also finished with 13 digs.
Senior Katie Barton (Newbury, Ohio/Newbury) added 13 kills and Mortimer finished with 12.
Kelly led six Terriers in double digit kills with 27, with junior Megan Schaefer (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria) added 16. Maier had a season-high 60 assists and also added 10 digs.
The Terriers finished with 67 kills and a .229 hitting mark in the five-set win.
Hiram will be back at it on Tuesday as they travel to take on NCAC foe Allegheny (Pa.) at 7 p.m.
