GREENCASTLE, IND. -- The Hiram College women's basketball team fell to No. 15-ranked and NCAC leading DePauw (Ind.) on Saturday afternoon by a 84-31 score.
The Terriers fall to 4-9 overall and 0-4 in conference play, while the Tigers improve to 11-1, 4-0.
Sophomore Brianne Goodrich (Chesterland/West Geauga) led Hiram with nine points.
Freshman Kaylee Shockley (Uniontown/Lake) had five points and a career-high five rebounds, while sophomore Kayla Yost (Norwalk/Perkins) added five points and four rebounds.
After DePauw opened an early 8-3 lead, Hiram would get baskets from Goodrich and Yost to cut the deficit to 8-7.
But the Tigers would slowly pull away and used a 12-0 run late in the first half to build a 30-14 advantage.
In the second half, DePauw put the game away, scoring 17 of the first 21 points points to build a 50-22 lead.
Hiram finished the game 13-of-48 (28.3 percent) from the field, while the Tigers shot 31-of-64 (48.4 percent).
The Tigers won the rebounding battle 40-30 and scored 32 points off of 28 Terrier turnovers.
Hiram will play the final game of its seven-game road swing on Wednesday, when it takes on Allegheny (Pa.). Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
