HIRAM, OHIO -- Senior Kelsey Koskinen (Madison) scored a game-high 20 points, but the Hiram College women's basketball team dropped a 81-58 contest to Calvin (Mich.) on Saturday.
The Terriers drop to 1-3 on the season, while the Knights improve to 3-0.
Koskinen finished the game 7-of-17 from the field. For her efforts, she named Hiram MVP of the Terrier Tip-Off Classic.
Sophomore Brianne Goodrich (Chesterland/West Geauga) added 12 points and six rebounds. Sophomore Kayla Yost (Norwalk/Perkins) added nine points, eight rebounds and six assists.
Anna Timmer had a team-high 11 points off the bench for Calvin.
A layup from Koskinen with 15:39 left in the first half have Hiram an early 8-7 lead.
A 3-pointer from freshman Tori Milicevic (Lakewood) pushed Hiram's lead to 21-16 with 10:21 left in the first half.
But the Knights stormed back with a 16-3 run to take a 33-24 lead late in the first half. Calvin took a 44-31 lead into the break.
A 11-0 run by Calvin midway through the second half put the game away.
The Terriers finished the game 20-of-55 (36.4 percent) from the field, while the Knights were 29-of-65 (44.6 percent).
Hiram won the rebounding battle 42-39.
Hiram will play next on Tuesday, when it travels to take on Westminster (Pa.) at 6 p.m.
