Box Score HIRAM, OHIO -- Sophomore Logan Brewer (Barberton/Manchester) tallied a match-high 20 kills to help lead the Hiram College volleyball team past Penn State-Behrend (Pa.), 3-1, in a non-conference match at Price Gymnasium.
Behrend (10-2) took the early lead in the match by winning the first set, 25-22. Hiram (8-4) then rallied and won the next three consecutive sets, 25-20, 25-15 and 25-20, to go on to the 3-2 match victory.
Logan Brewer was one of four Terriers to record double-digit kill totals with 20. Freshman Marissa Jay (Parma/Padua Franciscan) was second with 16 kills, sophomore Lindsay Brewer (Barberton/Manchester) was third with 12 kills and All-North Coast Athletic Conference sophomore Emily Mortimer (Mogadore/Field) added 10 kills. Setting up the offense was All-NCAC junior Tierra Moore (Canton/Canton South) with 57 assists. Freshman Megan Schaefer (Elyria) had a match-high three service aces, followed by Logan Brewer with three aces.
Defensively, junior Regina Zyle (Cleveland/Beaumont) led the way with a match-high 28 digs. Logan Brewer also led the team in total blocks with three assists.
Hiram will host a tri-match on Saturday, Sept. 21 at Price Gym against Kenyon College and Fredonia State (N.Y.) Unviersity. Hiram will take on Kenyon in the NCAC opener at 1 p.m., followed by a matchup against Fredonia at 5 p.m.
