Volleyball Sweeps Wooster in Straight Sets

HIRAM, OHIO  --  The Hiram College volleyball team remained unbeaten in North Coast Athletic Conference play with a 3-0 victory against The College of Wooster at Price Gymnasium.

Hiram (13-6, 3-0 NCAC0 defeated Wooster (5-15, 0-4 NCAC) in straight sets by the scores of 25-16, 25-20 and 25-19.  Two Terriers recorded 10 or more kills with sophomore Lindsay Brewer (Barberton/Manchester) and freshman Marissa Jay (Parma/Padua Franciscan) both posting 11 kills.  All-NCAC junior Jennifer Yardas (Moon Twp., Pa./Moon) was third with nine kills.  Setting up the offense was fellow All-NCAC junior Tierra Moore (Canton/Canton South) with 31 set assists.  In addition, senior Danielle Day (Newbury) had three service aces.

Defensively, Day led the way with 11 digs and Moore was second with nine digs.  Sophomore Logan Brewer (Barberton/Manchester) led the team in total blocks with six (one solo and five assists).  Moore and Yardas were tied for second with three total blocks each.

Hiram will travel to Meadville, Pa. for a NCAC match against Allegheny College on Wednesday, Oct. 9.  The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
