Volleyball Splits Tri-Match at Marietta

MARIETTA, OHIO  --  The Hiram College volleyball team split a pair of matches in a tri-match hosted by Kenyon College in Gambier.  The Terriers defeated the Ladies, 3-1, in a North Coast Athletic Conference match, but lost to Marietta College, 3-1, in a non-conference matchup.

With the split, the Terriers are now 13-4 overall and 2-0 in the NCAC.

In the match against Kenyon, Hiram fell behind early, dropping the first set by the final of 25-21.  But the Terriers rallied by winning three straight sets, beginng with a 25-13 victory in the second set to even the match at 1-1.  Hiram then captured the third and fourth sets, 25-18 and 25-15, to win the match by the final of 3-1.

Against Marietta, Hiram won the first set, 25-13, to lead 1-0.  The Pioneers then posted the next three wins, 25-23, 25-20 and 25-15, to claim the 3-1 match victory.

Hiram will host a tri-match on Saturday, Sept. 29 at Price Gymnasium.  The Terriers will face Denison University in their first match beginning at 1 p.m., followed by a non-conference matchup against La Roche (Pa.) College at 5 p.m.
