Box Score PITTSBURGH, PA. -- The Hiram College volleyball team defeated La Roche (Pa.) College, 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-7), in a non-conference match in Pittsburgh, Pa.
With the win, the Terriers improve to 16-4 overall and the Redhawks drop to 4-14 overall for the season.
The Hiram offense was led by the duo of freshmen outside hitter Lindsay Brewer (Barberton/Manchester) and right side player Katie Barton (Newbury) with six kills each. Freshman outside hitter Kayla Foltz (Canton/Perry) was third with three kills. Setting up the offense was sophomore Tierra Moore (Canton/Canton South) with 27 assists. In addition, Lindsay Brewer and junior libero Danielle Day (Newbury) each recorded a team-high three service aces.
On defense, Day tallied a team-best 14 digs while freshman outside hitter Ashton Webb (Wadsworth/Norton) added seven digs. Lindsay Brewer also led the team in total blocks with four (two solo and two assists). Freshman middle hitter Mackenzie Mulligan (Poland/Poland Seminary) was second with three blocks (three assists) and freshman middle hitter Emily Mortimer (Mogadore/Field) and freshman middle hitter Logan Brewer (Barberton/Manchester) both added two blocks each (one solo and one assist).
Hiram will travel to Wooster for a tri-match against The College of Wooster in a North Coast Athletic Conference match at noon. The Terriers will then take on non-conference opponent Otterbein University at 2:30 p.m.
