Volleyball Splits a Pair of Matches on Final Day of Thomas (Ky.) More Tournament

CRESTVIEW HILLS, KY. – The Hiram College volleyball team split its final two matches of the Thomas More College Tournament this afternoon (Saturday, Sept. 3) in Crestview Hills, Ky.

Following today's matches, the Terriers are now 1-3 overall for the season.

In Hiram's first match of the day, the Terriers took on host school Thomas More and rallied from a 2-1 set deficit to defeat the Saints in five sets, 3-2. Hiram took the first set, 25-21 to take an early 1-0 lead. But Thomas More captured the next two sets, 25-22 and 25-23, to go up 2-1. The Terriers then won the fourth set, 25-12, to force a fifth and deciding set which Hiram would prevail by the final of 19-17 for the 3-2 match victory.

In the final match of the day against Transylvania (Ky.) University, Hiram found itself in another five-set match. Transylvania won the first set, 25-13, but the Terriers would take the next two, 25-23 and 25-22, to lead 2-1. Transylvania won the fourth set, 25-15, and would then edge out the Terriers, 15-13, in the final set to take a 3-2 match win.

Following the tournament, senior All-North Coast Athletic Conference middle hitter Andrea Kaminsky (Canton/GlenOak) was selected to the All-Tournament Team.

Hiram will stay on the road and will travel to Tiffin for a non-conference matchup against Heidelberg University on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m.
