Box Score HIRAM, OHIO – The Hiram College volleyball team lost to No. 6 nationally-ranked Wittenberg University, 3-1, tonight (Friday, Oct. 28) in a North Coast Athletic Conference match at Price Gymnasium. [Match Statistics]
With the loss, the Terriers are now 24-7 overall and 12-3 in the NCAC. The Tigers improve to 28-3 overall and 15-0 NCAC.
Hiram fell to Wittenberg by the scores of 16-25, 25-23, 21-25 and 17-25. Leading the offense was senior All-Region outside hitter Shaina Bryan (South Euclid/Brush) with 12 kills. Senior All-NCAC middle hitter Andrea Kaminsky (Canton/GlenOak) and junior outside hitter Ariel Pund (Macedonia/Walsh Jesuit) were tied for second with seven kills each. Senior setter Taylor Summerfield (Warren/Howland) had a team-best 18 set assists. Freshman Audrianna Lucha (Perry/Lake Catholic) was second with 10 assists.
Defensively, freshman libero Regina Zyle (Cleveland/Beaumont) had a team-high 10 digs and was followed by Pund with nine digs. Kaminsky tallied a team-best seven total blocks (one solo and six assists). Bryan and senior All-NCAC middle hitter Kristi Opfer (Garrettsville/Garfield) were tied for second with five blocks each.
Hiram will host DePauw (Ind.) University tomorrow (Saturday, Oct. 29) in the home and regular-season finale at Price Gym. It will also be Senior Day with the match scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
