Wendel `18 enters his fifth year as an Assistant Athletic Trainer with Hiram College in 2025-26. Wendel re-joined the Terriers following the completion of his master's in athletic training at Kent State University.
With the Golden Flashes, Wendel served as an athletic trainer for both the women’s volleyball and track teams and helped mentor undergraduate athletic training students.
While pursuing his master’s at Kent State, Wendel also worked several stints as an athletic trainer with local athletic departments, high schools and hospitals, including the Crystal Clinic Orthopedic Center in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Our Lady of the Elms High School in Akron, Ohio, Malone University in Kent, Ohio, University Hospitals JCC Rehabilitation in Beachwood, Ohio, and Hoban High School in Akron, Ohio.
Wendel began his athletic training career as a work-study student at Hiram, working with the men’s basketball team from 2015-18.
A 2018 graduate of Hiram College, Wendel was a three-year member of the men’s soccer team, seeing action in 27 games.
A National Athletic Trainers Association certified athletic trainer and a member of the Ohio Athletic Trainers Association, Wendel earned his bachelor’s degree in integrative exercise science from Hiram College in Dec. 2018 and his master’s degree in athletic training from Kent State University in May 2021 and is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in interprofessional leadership at Kent State.
