The Terriers softball program hired Kanno to its coaching staff beginning in the 2026-27 academic year, marking her first collegiate coaching experience following a historic playing career with the Terriers.
The Mililani, HI native was one of the most accomplished female student-athletes in all of Hiram College Athletics from 2022-25, serving as both a pitcher and utility player over four seasons. She was the NCAC Newcomer of the Year in 2022, the NCAC Pitcher of the Year in 2023, a two-time all-conference selection in 2024 (as both a pitcher and utility), and the program's third-ever All-American in 2025 (joining Whitney Dropsey and Giselle Bahena). She was an all-region selection in all four seasons played, too.
Among the many statistical feats for Kanno is the Hiram all-time career strikeout record (497) and ERA record (2.17) as a pitcher, as well the career batting average (.414) and total bases (336) records as a hitter. Not only did she etch her name throughout the Hiram record books, but she did it after battling injuries during and between seasons.
Kanno helped lead the Terriers to NCAC Tournament titles in 2022 and 2023, and played an integral role in taking Hiram to the NCAA Super Regionals for the first time in program history in 2023 (Cedar Rapids, IA). She graduated from Hiram College in the spring of 2025.
