He earned his M.D. from the University of Toledo, his M.S. in Endocrine Physiology and his Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Bowling Green State University. He has coauthored numerous research articles and exercise performance position stands, as well as chapters in several sport science textbooks. He is currently a “Distinguished Service” Professor of Biology at Lakeland Community College in Kirtland, Ohio.

Dr. Landis began formally coaching the throws in 2014. In the years since, he has leveraged his personal and collegial relationships with both successful athletes and accomplished coaches to become a more fully realized “student of the sport”. With a focus on always striving to be a better teacher, he has coached and trained a number of high school athletes, and his efforts have helped those athletes achieve numerous school records, state qualifications, and medals.  His experience is highlighted by one middle school state championship, five high school state championships, a high school All-American, and a regional ESPY award winner.

Dr. Landis lives on the south shore of Lake Erie with his wonderful wife, Niki. They raised two successful, and athletic, young men; Cam (UPenn/NDSU) and Nolan (IU/Kent State), but currently parent one cat (Bushy), and two lively and loving Dobermans (Poppy and Luna).
