Powell enters her third season as the head coach of the Hiram Terriers Cheer & STUNT program in 2023-24, having joined the Terriers from Laurel Senior High School in New Castle, Pa., where she served as the assistant varsity cheer coach for the past two and a half years.
Since beginning with Hiram, Powell has led the Terriers to a 14-9 record over the last two seasons, highlighted by a STUNT National Championship appearance in 2022 and a second-place finish in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championship in 2023. The program joined the Great Midwest Athletic Conference ahead of the 2022-23 season, and finished 3-2 in games against conference competition that year.

Over two seasons at Laurel Senior, Powell helped the Spartans to a first-place finish and district title at the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) district championships, the first district title in school history, a seventh-place finish at the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) state championships and a sixth-place finish at the National High School Cheerleading Championships in Orlando, Fla. in 2020.

Powell began her coaching career as the junior high cheer coach at Laurel Junior High School in New Castle, Pa., spending two seasons with the Spartans before moving up to the high school level.

Powell earned her bachelor’s degree in political science and Spanish from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in Wilmington, N.C. in 2010, and her master’s degree in secondary education from Slippery Rock University in Slippery Rock, Pa. in 2017.
