Women's Hockey Opens Up Inaugural Season

Damianakis Scores Programs First Goal

HIRAM, Ohio – October 30, 2026 – The inaugural season of Hiram College women's hockey officially got underway Friday evening in Wilkes-Barre, Pa, as the Terriers took the ice for the first regular-season game in program history, falling 10-1 to King's College.

It was a historic night for Hiram College as the newest athletic program began its first season, opening a 19-game schedule for the 2026-27 campaign. Although the Terriers came up short in their highly anticipated debut, the team showed fight and made history with its first appearance on the ice.

Hiram made an early statement, finding the back of the net with just three minutes remaining in the first period. Irene Damianakis scored the first goal in program history off an assist from Kayli Dubé, giving the Terriers a memorable moment in their inaugural game.

Leah Yedwab led the Terriers offensively with seven shots, while nine different Hiram players recorded at least one shot throughout the contest. Dubé also made an impact in the faceoff circle, winning 19 draws.

Defensively, goalkeepers Kendall Felser and Aubrie Rockovits split time in net, recording 33 and 21 saves, respectively, as they faced a high volume of shots from the King's offense.

The Terriers will have a quick turnaround as they return to the ice Saturday evening for a rematch against King's College. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., as Hiram looks to earn its first victory in program history.
