Mory Sets Up Simmons In Hiram's 2-1 Loss To Olivet

Terriers Drop 1st Road Match Of Campaign

OLIVET, Michigan - September 7, 2024 - The Hiram College women's soccer team faced a tough battle in its first road game of the season against the Olivet Comets, ultimately falling, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon.

The match started on a difficult note for the Terriers, as the Comets managed to get a goal in the 11th minute courtesy of Katelyn White. Despite the early setback, Hiram refused to back down

Sophomore Bella Simmons gave the Terriers life with the team's second goal of the season in the 13th minute, which was assisted by sophomore Reagan Mory. The goal was a quick response, as the Terriers pushed to level the match with a sense of urgency.

On the defensive end, goalkeeper Madie Kennedy was instrumental in keeping the Terriers in the game during her 53 minutes on the field, recording five saves from seven Comet shots on goal. In the second half, Emma Deffenbaugh took over in goal, adding three more saves to keep the Comets from extending their lead.

In the end, the Comets would break the tie in the 31st minute with an unassisted goal from Jennie Underwood, making the final score 2-1.

Hiram will look to bounce back when they return home to face Bethany College on Wednesday at 7 p.m. from Henry Field in Hiram, Ohio.
