DELAWARE, Ohio - February 20, 2024 - The Hiram women's basketball team saw its season end on Tuesday evening at Branch Rickey Arena, as a hard-fought effort in the third quarter wasn't enough in a 90-45 loss in the quarterfinals of the NCAC Tournament.
The Terriers matched the Battling Bishops in the third quarter, 16-16, while shooting 64% from the field (7-11) during that span. Six different Hiram student-athletes scored in the period against a team that figures to have a good shot at winning the conference title.
Ava Mory led the team with 7 points, two rebounds, two assists, three steals and three blocks, an all-around performance that capped off her sophomore season on a high note. Hiram's bench outscored its opposition, 27-23.
Ohio Wesleyan scored the first 10 points of the game and wouldn't relinquish the lead from there. Kasey Schipfer, a potential All-American selection, led all scorers in the game with 24 points.
The Terriers program continues to be on the ascent, as they finished 2023-24 in sole possession of sixth place in the NCAC. It's the team's best finish in the conference over the last five seasons.
Hiram will now prepare for next season, with its exciting roster primed to take the next step in 2024-25.
