WAYNESBURG, Pennsylvania – December 18, 2024 – A late victory by Hiram was enough for a big dual victory over Waynesburg, 24-20, on Wednesday afternoon at Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse.

The dual marked the Terriers' first of the season against a PAC opponent. Hiram men's wrestling, and men's volleyball, are the school's first two programs to return to PAC competition. Full results for the event can be found here.

Jaden Bell delivered the decisive blow in the dual, beating Ayden Bishoff, the defending PAC champion at 197 lbs, by fall (6:07). Bell held a 5-3 lead in the bout before avoiding a takedown and pinning his talented opponent to seal the team victory.

Lewis Deloach (133 lbs) earned a win by forfeit and Will Brodbeck (141 lbs) added to his breakout season with a win by fall (4:08) over Conner Graser. Jackson Bowers (149 lbs) then beat JT Hollyfield by decision (9-3) to carve out a 15-0 lead for the road team.

Waynesburg responded and won the 157-lb bout by major decision, but Seth Holt (165 lbs) fought his way through a lengthy battle with AJ Tomaino and won by decision (9-3). Up to that point in the dual, Hiram had won four of the five bouts.

The Yellow Jackets finished strong and won the 174-lb, 184-lb and 285-lb bouts, but Bell's win in the 197-lb class provided just enough cushion for the Terriers to hang on for the win. Hiram had officially evened its record at 2-2 and made its presence felt in the first PAC event of the campaign.

Hiram will take the rest of the calendar year off before returning to the mats on Saturday, January 4 at the Fairmont State Open in West Virginia.
