Lawler Ties Program Record With 9 3-pt FG, Hiram Rolls To 20-Pt Win At PSU Shenango

Terriers Keep Rolling With Wins In 4 Of Last 5 Games

SHARON, Pennsylvania - December 11, 2024 - Anastasia Lawler achieved something that no other student-athlete in all of Division III has accomplished this season on Wednesday evening at Penn State Shenango.

For the second time this season, Lawler made 9 3-pointers in a single game. She tied her own program record and became the only D-III player to reach that mark on two different occasions in 2024-25.

In fact, the only other student-athlete to reach that mark just once in a game this season was Carmen Cruz of Puget Sound (Tacoma, WA).

Lawler's effort ended with 29 points, six rebounds and three assists, propelling Hiram to an 83-63 victory over the Nittany Lions at the Buhl Club. The Terriers have won four of their last five games and improved to a season-best 5-3 record.

Brooke Hickman was steady in the frontcourt, adding 18 points and seven rebounds on an efficient 7-of-10 shooting from the field. Isabella Caceres had a career-high nine assists, while four other student-athletes also registered at least three field goals in the game: Ava Mory (8 points), Sarah Seaman (7), Jo Janda (7) and Juliana Gunn (7).

It was a game that featured the perfect combination of offense (46% FG pct) and defense (32% opponent FG pct). Hiram scored at least 15 points in every quarter and capped off the evening with 26 points in the third quarter and 25 points in the fourth. Penn State Shenango grabbed an early 2-0 lead, which proved to be the Terriers' only deficit of the entire game.

Beyond the 51 points scored in the second half, Hiram featured a stingy defense that surrendered just 17 points throughout the first 20 minutes. In the second quarter alone, the Terriers allowed only one field goal.

The sharpshooting of Lawler coupled with the interior presence of Hickman was just too efficient for the opposition to match. Hickman had 11 points on 4-4 shooting in the second quarter before Lawler went a perfect 5-5 on 3-point field goals as part of a 15-point third quarter. Penn State Shenango found its offensive form in the final period, but the Hiram lead proved to be insurmountable.

Not only have the Terriers won four of their last five games, but they have done it while playing just one home game during that span.

Hiram will look for another road win on Monday, when it travels to Steubenville, OH for a non-conference affair against Franciscan University inside Finnegan Fieldhouse.
