Hiram Closes Out Season With Home Loss To Wittenberg

Ladage And Deffenbaugh Stand Out In Final Matchup

HIRAM, Ohio – October 2, 2024 – In the season finale, Hiram College faced off against Wittenberg University at Charles A. Henry Field at Malmisur Stadium but ultimately fell in a 4-0 loss.

Hiram struggled to break through Wittenberg's defense, managing three shots in each half. Sydney Ladage led Hiram's offense with three shot attempts. In the 43rd minute, Brooke Mullis scored her second goal of the match, extending Wittenberg's lead to 3-0 going into halftime.

The second half began with similar intensity, as Wittenberg continued to press offensively. Caroline Stupp scored in the 54th minute with an assist from Grace Koperna, bringing the score to 4-0 in favor of Wittenberg. Hiram's defense continued to work hard, with Emma Deffenbaugh recording eight saves over the course of the match to hold off any additional scoring opportunities for the Tigers.
This match was marked by Wittenberg's strong offensive presence and Hiram's defensive resilience. Although Hiram faced challenges throughout the season, the players showed determination, with Emma Deffenbaugh's performance in goal and Sydney Ladage's offensive attempts standing out.

The Terriers will now turn their attention to the offseason, as they prepare for a 2025 season that will include a brand new schedule as a full-time member of the Presidents' Athletic Conference.
