DELAWARE, Ohio - October 15, 2024 - Hiram women's soccer lost to Ohio Wesleyan, 4-0, on Tuesday early evening at the Jay Martin Soccer Complex.
OWU's Jordyn Adams was the star of the show, scoring three of the four goals in the match. Holly Counts also added a goal in the victory for a Battling Bishops team that is now 9-4 overall this year (2-1 in NCAC).
Hiram's Emma Deffenbaugh had a strong effort as the goalkeeper, recording her second career match with double-digit saves (11). It was a balanced performance for the sophomore – who is in her first full season at the position – as she recorded six saves in the first half and five saves in the second half.
The Terriers' Reagan Mory and Bella Simmons each had multiple shots and played a combined 161 minutes, but the road team couldn't crack the scoring column against one of the better teams in the NCAC.
Hiram will return to the field on Saturday, when it plays host to Kenyon as part of a soccer doubleheader at Henry Field. Kickoff is slated for a 4 p.m. start in Hiram, Ohio.
