WILLIAMSPORT, Pennsylvania - December 30, 2023 - From start to finish, Hiram put together a complete effort in a 65-41 win over Misericordia on Saturday at the Hoops for Hounds Tournament inside Lamade Gymnasium.
The Terriers won all four quarters in the game, including a 26-point outburst in the second quarter before the defense held the Cougars to just 14 points over the entire second half. The 24-point win is the team's second-largest margin of victory in a game this season (won by 34 at Thiel).
Individually, Brooke Hickman led the Terriers with game-highs in points (15) and rebounds (12). The junior now has 8 double-doubles in 2023-24.
Senior Anastasia Lawler continued to produce points, tallying 10 points and a career-high 8 assists. She scored or assisted on 26 of the team's 65 points in the non-conference contest (40%).
First-year Star Owens capped off the scoring with a career-high 9 points off the bench, while Diara Parsons (3), Ava Mory (2) and Payton Black (2) each had multiple steals on the defensive end.
Hiram found its form offensively, scoring 40 points in the first half on 48.4% (15-31) shooting from the field. Owens was featured in the 26-point second quarter, scoring all 9 of her points in the period.
The Terriers defense put on a clinic in the second half; Misericordia was held to 3 field goals in each of the final two quarters, shooting below 20% during that span. Hiram was able to get 10 different student-athletes into the scoring column to secure the dominant win.
Next, Hiram will shift its attention to conference play, beginning with a home matchup against Oberlin on Wednesday at 6 p.m. inside Price Gymnasium in Hiram, Ohio.
