HIRAM, Ohio - October 17, 2023 - The Hiram women's soccer team lost to Wooster on Tuesday at Henry Field, 4-0.
The Terriers played a strong first half, limiting the Fighting Scots to just one goal in a tightly contested matchup, before the margin expanded early in the second half.
It was an entertaining affair against a team that won its 10th game of the season and improved to 10-1-3. Bella Simmons, Sydney Ladage and Kylie Hudson each recorded shots on goal, while Skyler Huda exceeded 100 saves for the season with a double-digit save performance (12).
Wooster was on the board in the 13th minute thanks to a goal by Grace Gascoigne, but Huda controlled the first half with seven saves. The Fighting Scots had seven corner kicks over the first 45 minutes, none of which resulted in a goal.
The second half proved to be a shift in momentum with Wooster scoring two goals within the first four minutes, and eventually another goal in the 65th minute. All four of the road teams goals were scored by a different student-athlete.
Hiram's best chances to score came in the 65th minute – on a shot missed left by Caitlin Tucker – and in the 79th minute – on a crossing shot from Simmons. The Fighting Scots defense held strong and pulled off the win in the end.
The Terriers will look to bounce back in their final home game of the regular season on Saturday at 7 p.m. against Denison.
