Hiram Cruises To 74-39 Win Over Waynesburg

Terriers Post Largest Margin Of Victory Since 2019

WAYNESBURG, Pennsylvania - December 20, 2022 - Hiram put together its most dominant performance of the season with a 74-39 blowout victory over Waynesburg at Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse.

The 35-point margin of victory is the team's largest in a game since November 19, 2019, when the Terriers beat Thiel, 90-45.

It was a breakout day for Anastasia Lawler, who posted career-highs in points (17), field goals (6) and three-pointers (5). Only five players in program history have made more 3-pt FG in a single game, including Jocelyn Janda earlier this season (6 3-pt FG vs Thiel).

Brooke Hickman recorded her 7th double-double of the season with 16 points and 13 rebounds, while also contributing on the defensive end with 4 blocks and 2 steals. Maddie Rakestraw had 12 points and a season-high 6 assists, which also tied a career-high (6 assists vs Thiel on November 8, 2021).

Hiram outscored the Yellow Jackets, 20-10, in each of the first two quarters thanks to a 46% FG pct (17-37) and 5 three-pointers. Waynesburg was held below 33% from the field in the first half.

Hickman and Lawler combined for all 20 of the team's first quarter points, with Rakestraw chipping in 4 assists. Hickman scored the Terriers' first 9 points before Lawler knocked in 3 three-pointers within the final 2:40 of the quarter.

Ava Mory accounted for 8 points in the second quarter alone, all of which came on assists from her teammates. Haley Thompson capped off the half with a jumper to give Hiram a 40-20 advantage.

More of the same commanding play followed in the second half; Jadyn Barnett (7 points) and Breyana Buxton (3 points) each recorded season-highs in points. Lizzy Scharer added to the bench's production with 7 points and 3 assists of her own.

The Terriers will next play in the Juniata Invitational on Dec. 30 (Elmira) and 31 (Juniata), a two-day event in Huntingdon, PA.
