JAMESTOWN, New York - December 10, 2022 - Hiram went 1-1 in its tri-meet on Saturday, losing to Jamestown Community College (30-21) before bouncing back with a win over Penn State Behrend (35-14).
The event marked the team's first set of dual meets since it lost to Thiel College on Nov. 16.
Alex Savering got the job done in the first dual meet of the day, beating Jamestown's Luke Potts by decision (7-3) in the 141-lb weight class. He scored his team 3 points.Â
Ian Fuentes (125 lbs), Corey Casterline (133 lbs), Will Brodbeck (149 lbs), Jimmy Thomas (184 lbs) and Zach Harper (197 lbs) lost in their respective matches against Jamestown CC. Brodbeck highlighted the group with a loss to James Rankin by decision (17-11).
The second half of the day against Penn State Behrend featured a number of winning efforts.
Savering (149 lbs) won against Tyler Holman by major decision (12-3) before Kaelon Lawson-West (157 lbs) did the same vs Hunter Savitz (15-7). Seth Holt (165 lbs) followed suit with a victory over Andrew Maser by fall (1:35).
Wrapping up the day was another pair of wins: Thomas (184 lbs) won by fall (4:49) against Dylan Barber and Harper (197 lbs) won by decision (7-4) over Russell Wismer.
The Terriers had 23 of their 35 points in the second meet scored by those victories, with the rest coming from forfeits.
Hiram will compete in its first home meet of the 2022-23 campaign on Friday at 7 p.m. against Muskingum University. Live video of the event will be provided.
