Hiram College

Kanno added to her historic career at Hiram College, both in the circle and in the batter’s box over a 4-0 week against Denison and Ohio Wesleyan. She began the week by tossing five innings of one-run ball in a Game 1 win against the Big Red; her 11 strikeouts in the game gave her four career games with 10+ strikeouts, which extends a program record. She later pitched another five innings of one-run ball – notably featuring another eight strikeouts – to earn a victory against Ohio Wesleyan and level her season record at 5-5.

The junior from Mililani, Hawaii showcased her two-way abilities throughout the week, too, batting .467 (7-for-15) with two doubles, two triples and four RBI. Kanno’s five triples this season are two shy of tying the program record for a single season (Kim Arnold, seven triples in 1998).
