Welch had a 1st-place finish in the 285-lb bracket at the Jamestown Community College Open. The senior beat Niagara Community College's Trevon Mathews by decision (3-2), Ohio Wesleyan's Joe Shoup by decision (8-2) and Pitt Bradford's Cameron Carter-Green by decision (7-2).
