Feb.14-GRANVILLE, Ohio- The Hiram swimming and diving team entered the first day of the North Coast Athletic Conference Championship, at the Trumbull Aquatics Center on the campus of Denison University, Wednesday night.
After day one the women have tallied 48 points for the Terriers and the men totaled 44 points.
In day one of the championships, the Terriers competed in the 800-freestyle relay. The women clocked in a time of 9:14.55, a ninth-place finish. The relay featured freshman Nicki Prentler and Mallory Best making their conference championship debut, along with junior Sierra Daniels and sophomore Jenna Nelson.
On the men's side, the 800-yard freestyle relay finished in a 10th place time of 8:23.93. The relay team included veterans junior Michael Barber, senior Jory Gomes, and freshman duo Brett Bentkowski and Darien Street.
The NCAC Swimming and Diving Championship features 10 teams on the men's side and nine teams on the women's.
The Lords (151) and Ladies (70) of Kenyon are leading on both sides after day one. Denison is second in the women's category with 62 points, followed by DePauw with 60 points. On the men's side, Allegheny holds the second-place spot with 103 points, and DePauw wraps up the top three with 90 points.
The Terriers will return to action for the second day of the NCAC Championship Thursday, February 14 at 10 a.m. Day two's events include the 200-freestyle relay, 500-freestyle, 200 individual medley, 50-freestyle, and 400 medley relay.
