Feb.22-HIRAM, Ohio- The Hiram College women's lacrosse team will strive to go above and beyond last season's progress during their 2019 campaign with the help of five new additions and 11 returners.
This veteran group was a part of a team that set new heights in 2018 establishing a new program standard for wins in a season (6-10).
Midfielder Katelyn Slomovitz is the lone senior for Hiram this year. Slomovitz played a crucial role for the Terriers offense last season ranking third on the team in goals (23) and points (26), while second on the roster in ground balls (44)
and draw controls (42).
Other returning midfielders include junior duo, Alexis Hirsch and Tayler Hall. Hirsch tallied 25 points scoring 20 goals while adding five assists. Hall, on the other hand, totaled six goals and ranked second on the team in caused turnovers, posting 17 on the year.
The Terriers will see the majority of their veteran leadership out of the attack group that includes Gianna Palmieri, Kelsey Morgan, Ketzia Umana, and Alyssa Roberts.
Leading the attack this season is sophomore pair Palmieri and Morgan, both appeared in all 16 games last season. Morgan posted four goals and recorded 20 ground balls, and Palmeri added seven points and 14 ground balls.
Hiram also welcomes back defender Tia Smith. The junior ranked third on the team in caused turnovers (16) and tallied 32 ground balls.
Hiram will also add five new additions to the team including defender Ashonti Wright, midfielder Cat Lillibridge, defender Allison Slutz, attack Alexis Robinson, and defender Dominique Robinson.
The Terriers will kick off their 2019 season with a matchup against Medaille (N.Y.) Sunday, February 24 at 2:00 p.m.
Hiram will then compete in eight more non-conference tilts, before opening their conference season at Depauw University on March 30.
