April 7- SPRINGFIELD, Ohio- The Hiram College women's lacrosse team dropped a 16-5 decision against Wittenberg University on Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers were quick to get on the board, shooting their first goal in the opening minute. The remaining of the half the Tigers outscored the Terriers 8-1 with senior Sierah Ray scoring the lone Hiram goal of the frame.
Wittenberg continued to score in the second half, recording two goals within the first five minutes of play (11-1).
Ray answered minutes later with back-to-back goals to shrink the deficit to 11-3. But Allegheny added another goal to their cause, extending the score to 12-3 with 23:27 left in the match.
Off a free position shot, Ray added her fourth and final goal of the night (12-4), before the Tigers went on a four-point run, making the score 16-4.
Hiram made one last scoring push with senior Alyse Gillentine making a goal off a free position shot with 7:13 left in the game. In the remaining minutes, neither side was able to get on the board securing Wittenberg's 16-5 victory.
Ray led the Hiram pack, recording a team-high four goals with two caused turnovers, while Gillentine tallied a goal and a caused turnover.
The Terriers will return home to host Ohio Wesleyan on Wednesday, April 11 in a matchup scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
