Nov.28- THIEL, Ohio- Led by a career night from freshman Josie Earnhardt, the Hiram College women's basketball team captured their third win of the season, upending Thiel College 95-65 on Wednesday evening.
The freshman was a dominant force off the bench leading Hiram with a career-high 24 points. The reserves made a major impact, outsourcing the Thiel bench 44-21.
Sophomore trio Alainna Conroy, Tashauna Wright, and Madison Branch were a great starting pack for the Terriers. Each scored in double figures during the win. Conroy collected 12 points, while Wright and Branch finished with 11 and 10.
The lone senior of the Hiram group, Erica Johnson secured her first double-double of the season tallying 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Junior Paris Thompson knocked down the first basket of the game putting the Terriers ahead 2-0 in the first minute of play.
From there the first quarter was played close with the Terriers and the Tomcats swapping leads and tying the game twice.
Inside the final minute of the first Earnhardt and Conroy put together a 5-2 run to solidify a 23-19 lead in the first.
In the second half, Hiram controlled the ballgame maintaining a double-digit edge heading into the half with a 14-point advantage (48-34).
Hiram continued their momentum in the second half, pushing the lead to as many as 30 (95-65) to ensure the win.
The Terriers finished the night, outrebounding the host 46-38 with 19 steals forcing 30 turnovers.
Hiram will return home on Saturday, December 1 in a 1 pm matchup against conference foe Wooster.
