October 20 - HIRAM, Ohio - The Terrier swimming & diving teams competed in their first home meet of the season against Mount Union on Saturday afternoon at the Alumni Memorial Pool.
The Terriers participated in 26 events with a final of 64 points on the women's side, and 65 on the men's side.
The women were led by junior Jenna Nelson. Nelson had a strong meet swimming a first-place time in the 400-meter freestyle in 5:22.21, after capturing second in the 50-meter breaststroke, clocking in at 41.14.
Freshman Carlee Lisser scored a pair of top place finishes for the Terriers in her home meet debut. Lisser placed second in the 100-meter freestyle in 1:08.93 and had a third-place performance in the 800-meter freestyle (11:03.41).
Elijah Skaggs was the top finisher for the men's team. The Galion native captured two victories. The first was in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 26.83, while the second came in the 50-meter butterfly (28.40).
The men's 200-meter medley relay, comprised off all veterans, tallied the first points of the day with a third-place finish (2:04.40). The relay included Skaggs, senior Reeve Bowling, sophomore Darien Street, and senior Michael Barber.
Bowling swam his way to a third-place finish in the 100-meter butterfly in a time of 1:08.52. In a Mount Union heavy heat, he also nabbed a third-place finish in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:17.20).
The Terriers will hit the pool again on Saturday, October 27, when they take on Malone. The action is slated for a 12 p.m. start.
