Men's Basketball Player Jamaal Watkins (South Euclid/Brush) Named NABC All-District

HIRAM, OHIO  --  Hiram College men's basketball player Jamaal Watkins (South Euclid/Brush) adds to his list of postseason awards with a first-team selection to the NABC (National Association of Basketball Coaches) Division III All-District Team.  [NABC All-District Teams]

Earlier this season, Watkins capped a career year with his first All-NCAC selection and was a first-team pick. He became just the second Terrier men's player to earn first-team accolades since joining the NCAC. This season, the Terriers finished the year with a 14-12 overall record and made their ninth conference tournament appearance.

Individually, Watkins led the team and was second in the NCAC in scoring average at 20.1 points per game. His 20.1 ppg. scoring average puts him in a tie for eighth all-time in program history in a single-season and his 522 points this year ranks fifth best in a single-season. He shot a team-best 56.0 percent (223-of-398) from the floor and had the fourth-best shooting percentage in the NCAC. In addition, Watkins led the team in free-throws made (75), free-throws attempted (107), blocked shots (20) and steals (30). He averaged a career-high 7.5 rebounds per game, which ranked second on the team and was also amongst the league leaders, and had a single-season high 58 assists.

For his career, Watkins played in 94 games primarily as a bench player before becoming a starter this past season. He ends his career with 848 points while shooting an impressive 55.9 percent from the floor in four seasons. His shooting percentage is the third-best all-time in program history. Watkins also recorded 411 career rebounds (4.4 rpg.) to go along with 79 assists, 70 steals and 38 blocked shots.
