NEW CONCORD, Ohio - The Hiram College baseball team dropped a 20-4 decision to Muskingum University on Saturday afternoon.
The Terriers opened the game with a pair of runs in the top of the first inning. Hiram strung together four hits with one out in the frame, which was led by a single from Curtis Caithaml. After a double by Zachary Bailey put runners on second and third, Alex Gould and Will Howell tallied back-to-back RBI singles to give Hiram a two-run lead.
The Muskies came storming back in the bottom of the first inning, scoring eight runs en route to putting together 14 unanswered.
Hiram added two more in the top of the sixth, including a RBI double from Vince Suso and run-scoring single by Bailey. Muskingum would come right back, however, with six more runs to round out the scoring.
The offense was led by two hits, each for Suso, Bailey and Howell. All three players also totaled a RBI.
Hiram is scheduled to be back in action on Tuesday, March 20, as they travel to Alliance to take on The University of Mount Union. The matchup is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start.
