Hiram Director of Athletics Todd Hibbs Presents at 2019 National Wrestling Coaches Association Convention

August 9- FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida- Todd Hibbs, who became Hiram Director of Athletics in July, recently presented three conference sessions at the National Wrestling Coaches Association's Annual Convention. The three-day event from August 2-4 at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center drew record attendance this year, with over 400 youth, 30 exhibitors, and more than 350 coaches from all levels of collegiate wrestling.

A former NCAA Division III head coach and NCAA Division I assistant, Hibbs is no stranger to the wrestling world; he was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame (via the Michigan Chapter) in May of 2018. The three sessions Hibbs presented were titled Benchmarks for NCAA Division I, Benchmarks for All Divisions, and Strategies for Supporting First-Generation College Students.

Hibbs is currently a Ph.D. candidate at Central Michigan University with the focus of his research on supporting first-generation student-athletes in persisting to degree completion.

"A first-generation graduate myself, I wouldn't hold a college degree without the sport of wrestling and the coaches and teammates who supported my journey," commented Hibbs. "I'm thrilled that the NWCA provides opportunities for our coaches to gather and discuss strategic interventions that can be impactful in the progress of our sport and the support of our athletes."
