Cecil enters his first season as an assistant coach for the men’s basketball program in 2019-20.

Cecil brings over 20 years of experience to the program, previously coaching regional championship winners in AAU and NAYS leagues, including multiple national tournament appearances in both. Cecil's teams have competed in the Salem Indiana Invitational and the Toronto Canada Invitational.

Most recently, Cecil coached his team to the Cleveland Lake Effect League Tournament Championship.

Alongside coaching, Cecil has done research in nuclear physics in Europe and the United States. Cecil has also been a part of the Cleveland Clinic’s full-time staff for over a decade, where he has helped develop one of the largest medical imaging systems in the world.

Cecil earned a Ph.D. from Kent State University in 1981. He is married to Jeri Lynn Hoffman and has two children, Brian and Laura.
