The Hiram College volleyball team fell in conference play for the first time this season, dropping a 3-0 decision to Wittenberg University on Friday evening.
The Tigers came into the match ranked third in the Nation by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
The Terriers fell in the match by set scores of 25-14, 25-15 and 25-20.
Hiram led briefly in each set, but fell prey to large runs by the Tigers in all three games.
Wittenberg put together a six-point run in the opening set to run away from Hiram. In the second set, the Tigers closed the game on a 7-1 run to take a 2-0 lead.
The third set was clinched by the hosts thanks to a 9-3 swing in the middle of the set which turned a 15-14 advantage into a 24-17 lead.
Falling 3-0 for the first time this season the Terriers are now 13-2 on the season and 2-1 in conference play.
The Terriers will get back to work tomorrow afternoon as they travel to Greencastle, Ind. to take on DePauw University. The matchup with the Tigers is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
